Some of my interests
Supporting neurodivergent individuals LGBTQIA+ identifying individuals Acute and chronic health conditions Trauma Informed
My interest in psychology first emerged out of a gentle curiosity and desire for understanding the person as the sum of their parts. Over the years, this interest has blossomed into a passion for using this understanding toward fostering self-compassion, acceptance, and safety.
My approach emphasizes the therapeutic relationship as a core mechanism for meaningful change. Through warmth, humour, and an earnest desire to help, I aim to create a collaborative space where a shared curiosity can flourish. I hope to cultivate a therapeutic relationship built on trust, where people can feel safe in bringing the entirety of their authentic selves and be held steadily in their process of self-exploration. I am particularly interested in how relational experiences across the lifespan can inform the ways individuals see themselves and the world around them.
I work eclectically by drawing on several therapeutic styles to personalize and tailor my approach to the client. This includes drawing upon ACT, DBT, CBT, and compassion-focused therapy, as well as incorporating concepts from schema and psychodynamic therapy. My approach is flexible and reflects an interest in developing a multi-faceted understanding of the people I am privileged enough to support.
Throughout my career, I have supported individuals across the lifespan within a range of clinical settings, including youth mental health, cancer services, public hospitals, and residential mental health facilities. These experiences have contributed to my understanding of the ways that physical and psychological health intersect, as well as an integrative perspective on individual wellbeing that seeks to understand a person as part of their broader context.
Outside of psychology, I have arguably too many interests to occupy my time. These include role-playing video games, collecting cool rocks, reading classic literature, submerging in bodies of water, and bothering my cat. I am not sure whether I love watching movies because I get to log them on Letterboxd, or whether I use Letterboxd because I love watching movies. We may never know.
Jason approaches therapy from a person-centred and humanistic stance, while also being neuro-affirming, trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ friendly, and strengths-based.
